GameStop today announced a partnership with Activision Publishing and Sony Pictures Entertainment for a special The Amazing Spider-Man 2 event to be held April 29 at all of its U.S. stores.
For one day only, shoppers who purchase The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will receive two movie tickets to see The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which hits theaters on May 2. Tickets are said to be in limi ted supply and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
GameStop shoppers will also receive the exclusive "Web Threads Suit Pack," which contains four Super-Man suits, if they buy the game on April 29. In addition, GameStop customers who attend the Amazing Spider-Man 2 event will get to see exclusive footage from the upcoming film and a behind-the-scenes lo ok at the making of the video game while shopping in store.
Finally, GameStop PowerUp Rewards Pro members ($15/year) that trade-in items towards the purchase of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will receive an extra 40 percent in-store credit. All other shoppers will receive a 30 percent bonus credit.
A sequel to the 2012 game The Amazing Spider-Man, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is Spider-Man's first adventure on next-generation consoles. However, its forthcoming arrival is not without some controversy, as the release date for the Xbox One version lies in limbo.
