While publisher Activision has yet to say if Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare has broken any sales records, we now know that the game has broken streaming records. Activision and Twitch announced today that Advanced Warfare is the most streamed console game (not PC) of 2014 for its launch week worldwide. It wasn't mentioned which title Advanced Warfare dethroned to take the top spot.
In terms of hard numbers, Activision says last week alone, more than 75,000 unique Twitch users shared Advanced Warfare gameplay. Advanced Warfare streams were viewed over 26 million times, while the game drew nearly 6 million unique viewers last week. In all, Twitch users spent over 327 million minutes watching Advanced Warfare streams during the week.
"The team at the studio is thrilled to see players think the game we've poured our heart and soul into making these last three years is not only fun to play, but very exciting to watch," Sledgehammer co-founder Glen Schofield said in a statement.
Advanced Warfare officially launched on November 4 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC. Activision is hopeful that the game will sell more units than 2013's Call of Duty: Ghosts, but the company has not announced any sell-through data so far.
